TikTok Settles Video Tech Copyright Suit One Month Before Trial

TikTok Inc. settled a copyright lawsuit brought by a Chinese software company accusing the social media giant of infringing multimedia editing technology code.

TikTok and Beijing Meishe Network Technology Co. were set to face off in October at trial in San Francisco after Judge Susan Illston on Sept. 2 ruled the copyright infringement claims should be decided by a jury. The parties filed a notice of settlement on Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California and the court vacated the trial the same day.
