TikTok Beats Claim It Took Video Firm’s ‘Stitch’ Trademark (1)

TikTok Inc. convinced a Los Angeles federal jury that the popular video-sharing app’s Stitch feature, which allows users to combine videos, didn’t infringe the US trademark of the U.K.-based Stitch Editing Ltd.

Stitch Editing, founded in 2010, provides services that include work on music, film, television, and online video projects. The company argued that TikTok’s use of “Stitch” as the name for the editing feature that the video-sharing app debuted in September 2020 would cause consumers to confuse the two brands. The video editing firm sought $118 million in damages.
