Tigo Energy Sues SMA Solar Over Rapid-Shutdown Tech Patents

Tigo Energy Inc. alleges that SMA Solar Technology America LLC and its suppliers copied its line of rapid-shutdown products to compete in the market for enabling solar-power systems to comply with the National Electric Code’s requirements, infringing six patents for the technology, according to a federal lawsuit in Delaware.

The self-described “leader in module-level rapid-shutdown technology” says SMA products including its JMS-F rapid shutdown device and its corresponding inverters infringe the patents, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
