Tesla’s Autopilot Accused of Ripping Off Kodak Technology

Tesla Inc. allegedly incorporated protected digital-imaging technology developed by Kodak Co. engineers into cars with Autopilot or full self-driving capabilities without permission from the patent owner, according to a lawsuit in Waco, Texas.

Monument Peak Ventures LLC, which owns a chunk of the pioneering film and camera company’s patent portfolio, said Tesla models 3, S, X, and Y infringe seven patents covering Kodak innovations in the field of making and interpreting digital images, in a complaint filed Nov. 6 in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.
