Tesla Shouldn’t Escape Claims on Anti-Rollover Tech, Judge Says

Tesla Inc. should have to face allegations that vehicles equipped with its Autopilot feature infringe an Arsus LCC patent for a rollover prevention apparatus, a federal magistrate judge said.

In a report and recommendation issued Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas, Magistrate Judge Derek T. Gilliland said Judge Alan D. Albright should reject Tesla’s argument that resolution of an earlier case Arsus filed against the electric-vehicles giant over a similar patent precludes Arsus from bringing the suit.
