Tesla ‘Full Self-Driving’ Software Infringes Patents, Suit Says

Tesla Inc.‘s self-driving cars infringe a trio of autonomous vehicle patents, according to a federal lawsuit.

Granite Vehicle Ventures LLC accused the electric car maker’s Full Self-Driving software’s “FSD (Supervised)” function of infringing US Patent Nos. 11,597,402, 11,738,765, and 12,037,004 in a complaint filed Dec. 6 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The patents relate to using sensor readings and competence levels of the vehicle processor and human driver to determine whether to operate the vehicle in manual or autonomous mode, the complaint said.
