Temu Denied Injunction to Curb Shein Copyright Takedown Notices

Fast-fashion company Temu couldn’t convince a federal court to make rival Shein Technology LLC jump through extra hoops in an effort to curb its practice of sending thousands of copyright takedown notices.

Whaleco Inc., which operates as Temu, failed to show it’d be irreparably harmed without a preliminary injunction, the US District Court for the District of Columbia said in a Sunday opinion. Temu had asked the court to require a copyright registration or oath from the rightsholder for any Digital Millenium Copyright Act notices and to include a verified link, while also capping Shein at challenging 100 images ...
