Telehealth services provider Brightline Inc. asked a federal court to dismiss consolidated class action claims that it negligently failed to protect the personal information of nearly one million people in connection with a data breach by a Russian-linked ransomware group.
The claims should be dismissed because the plaintiffs haven’t shown that the company, “itself a victim of an attack, caused them any harm,” Brightline said in a motion filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
