The Federal Circuit affirmed the validation of claims across six Teleflex Innovations patents covering guide catheters, medical devices used in cardiology, saying Monday that Medtronic Inc. failed to prove they should’ve been preempted on several fronts.
The Patent Trial and Appeal Board correctly determined that Medtronic’s validity challenges to claims couldn’t stick regarding US Patent Nos. 8,048,032; RE45,380; RE45,776; RE45,380; RE45,760; and RE47,379, Chief Judge Kimberly A. Moore wrote in a pair of precedential opinions.
