Tecnoglass LLC won copyright infringement claims against a subcontractor for construction projects in South Florida over the unauthorized use of the architectural glass company’s technical drawings.
The evidence shows that Building Envelope Systems Inc., and its owner Eusebio Paredes, had access to the copyrighted works and that the BES works were “substantially similar” to the copyrighted work, Judge K. Michael Moore of the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida said in an order filed July 7.
The court rejected the defendants’ argument that Tecnoglass must show the drawing were identical.
