TCL Electronics Hit With Patent Suit Over LED Smart Televisions

TCL Industries Holdings Co. and its TCL Electronics Holdings Ltd. unit allegedly infringed a Massachusetts-based patent owner’s protected LED technology in its smart televisions.

All of TCL’s televisions using LED backlighting infringe US Patent No. 6,936,851 B2, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court in the Western District of Texas. Lexington Luminance LLC said the TVs use similar methods as its patent, which covers a semiconductor light-emitting device.
