Target Sees Copyright Lawsuit Over Interior Design App Trimmed

Target Corp. will face a single copyright infringement claim from Design with Friends Inc. after a Delaware federal court dismissed most of a lawsuit alleging Target copied a digital room planning app.

Design with Friends, an app maker, “has plausibly alleged” that Target took its copyrighted computer code used to create a nursery planning tool that allows users to add 3D furniture and decorations to a room using a drag-and-drop function, the US District Court for the District of Delaware said Sept. 23.
