Target Dispute Over Virtual Room-Planning Tool Headed for Trial

Target Corp. will have to face a lawsuit accusing it of infringing a copyrighted virtual room-planning design tool after a federal judge sent most of the case to trial.

Judge Stephanos Bibas allowed Design with Friends Inc.'s suit to survive while partially granting both companies’ requests for summary judgment. Now with the claims narrowed, a jury in the US District Court for the District of Delaware will be asked to determine whether the tools are substantially similar and what damages Design with Friends is owed.
