Target Accused of Infringing Patent for Toy Bubble Machine

A toy manufacturer is suing Target Corp. for producing a bubble machine that allegedly infringes a patent for which the toy maker is the exclusive licensee.

Funrise Inc., the company behind Gazillion Bubbles products, said Target’s Amazing Bubbles Light Up Volcano Bubble Machine infringes U.S. Patent No. 9,757,661 covering a method and device for generating bubbles practiced by Funrise’s Whirlwind Party Machine.

Target’s allegedly infringing product is “offered at significantly lower prices and compete directly against Plaintiffs’ products, thus causing price erosion,” Funrise said in its April 29 complaint. Funrise products are sold at Walmart, Amazon, and eBay, among other ...
