Tableau Hit With Patent Suit Over Interactive Charts Software

iCharts LLC hit Tableau Software LLC with a lawsuit in Texas federal court alleging it infringes several patents with its software that allows users to create interactive charts and embed them on websites.

Tableau became aware of the patents when it considered acquiring iCharts in 2017, according to a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

iCharts said Tableau’s cloud, server and desktop products allow users to publish dashboards and create interactive charts. Tableau AI, Data Cloud and other products use similar methods as US Patent Nos. 8,271,892, 8,520,000, and 9,712,595 ...
