T-Mobile Gets Patent Behind Traxcell’s Legal Campaign Canceled

T-Mobile USA Inc. convinced a panel of administrative judges at the US Patent and Trademark Office to ax a patent behind a litigation campaign against many of the nation’s leading tech and telecom companies.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Monday canceled Traxcell Technologies LLC’s US Patent No. 9,918,196, a now-expired patent that described several wireless navigation concepts.

Traxcell, a non-practicing entity founded by Tucson, Ariz. inventor Mark Jefferson Reed, has sued T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint for infringing the ‘196 and related patents, as well as cell phone makers Apple Inc. and Google LLC and cell tower ...
