Sutter Hill Sues Sutter Rock for Trademark Infringement (1)

Private equity firm Sutter Hill Ventures sued venture capital firm Sutter Rock Capital in San Francisco federal court for allegedly infringing its trademarks.

The two California companies invest in the “very same type of companies,” Sutter Hill said in the Thursday complaint, allegedly making their similar names likely to confuse consumers.

Sutter Hill said it is “one of the oldest venture capital firms still in operation” and invests in the technology, healthcare, software, semiconductor, telecommunication, and consumer sectors.
