Supreme Court Won’t Review Tata’s Nine-Figure Trade Secrets Loss

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. failed to convince the US Supreme Court Monday to review the company’s $168.5 million trade secrets loss it claims to be excessive.

The verdict stems from Computer Sciences Corp.'s accusation that Tata stole secrets CSC conditionally allowed its software services customer Transamarica Corp. to share with third parties in order to keep Transamerica’s business. The US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit rejected Tata’s objection to damages based on unjust enrichment and an excessive punitive damages ratio.
