Supreme Court Rejects Intel’s Bid for Review of Patent Rule

The U.S. Supreme Court denied another bid—this time, Intel Corp.’s—for review of a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rule that makes it harder to start patent challenges.

Intel challenged the agency’s NHK-Fintiv rule, a much-debated practice that allows the Patent Trial and Appeal Board to deny review because of a parallel infringement case. Intel also sought review of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit’s refusal to hear appeals of denied petitions.
