SUNY Sues Former Students for Trademark Infringement

Three former students of the University at Albany have infringed on the State University of New York’s trademarks, the university system claims in a new federal lawsuit in the Northern District of New York.

James Scott, Romario McDowell, and Mandela Gadsden are co-owners of Triple O Entertainment, according to the complaint. Triple O regularly advertises its events, including homecoming parties, tailgates, and cookouts, to SUNY students and alumni using the university system’s registered trademarks, SUNY claims.

This marketing gives the false impression that Triple O is associated with SUNY, according to the complaint.
