Subaru of America Inc. accused a Minnesota car dealership of infringing Subaru’s “More Than A Car Company” and related trademarks.
The automaker asked the federal district court for the District of New Jersey to stop Mauer Automotive Group LLC from using its “More Than Cars” tagline in any advertising or merchandise.
Mauer, which sells new and used Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicles, attempted to obtain a federal trademark registration for the tagline “More Than Cars” in 2002, but Subaru objected at the US Patent and Trademark Office, arguing that the phrase is too similar to its family of “More Than” ...
