The operator of audio and video streaming website Hoopla, accused event-ticketing site and app maker Hoopla.com Inc. of trademark infringement.
Hoopla.com, which blends short-form videos of various types of events with ticket offerings, knowingly used the Hoopla name and a similar font, Midwest Tape LLC said in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California. The alleged infringement has already caused consumer confusion, the complaint said, pointing to negative Hoopla.com app reviews from people expecting Hoopla’s audiobook library.
Hoopla.com and its founder and co-defendant Darren Quon didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. ...
