‘Stranger Things’ Stole Elements From Screenplay, Complaint Says

Netflix Inc.‘s hit show “Stranger Things” allegedly lifted multiple story elements from an earlier screenplay, according to a copyright complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court.

Jeffrey Kennedy told the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Wednesday that Aaron Sims created concept art for his “Totem” screenplay from 2009 to 2013 before being hired by Matt and Ross Duffer to create art for seasons one and two of “Stranger Things.” Kennedy’s complaint says he believes Sims shared his screenplay and concept art with the Duffer Brothers, which inspired their show.
