Steve Madden Settles Suit Over Danish Brand’s ‘False’ IP Claims

Steven Madden Ltd. settled its lawsuit accusing popular Danish brand Ganni A/S of sending letters to retailers complaining Steve Madden sandals infringed rights it didn’t have.

Judge Brian M. Cogan dismissed the case Tuesday, the same day the parties sent a joint letter saying they’d reached an agreement in principle to end the suit.

The New York-based fashion company had accused Ganni of sending cease-and-desist letters to Dillard’s Inc. and Nordstrom alleging infringement in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ganni holds no registered or common law trademark, patent, or copyright in any of the ...
