States Say Trump’s Offshore Wind Pause Threatens Energy Costs

President Donald Trump’s executive order pausing federal permits for wind projects will lead to energy costs rising, 17 states and the District of Columbia told a federal court.

Threats to reliable and affordable electrical grids “have sharply mounted,” since the January directive, and an indefinite halt to offshore wind projects could irreparably harm states’ investments and interests in these developments, plaintiffs said Monday while asking the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts to issue a preliminary injunction.
