Spotify Responds to Data Use Concerns With Voice-Activated Tools (1)

Spotify Technology SA is pledging to “innovate responsibly” as the music and podcast streaming service rolls out new voice activation features, responding to concerns raised over people’s privacy and data security.

The pledge, outlined in a Thursday letter, comes after a meeting with digital rights group Access Now, which raised the concerns.

The voice activation features center on a new “Hey Spotify” function, which lets listeners ask for a particular song, artist, or podcast. “Hey Spotify” is also available on a new device called Car Thing.
