Spotify USA Inc. and Rhapsody International Inc. beat part of a patent infringement suit June 14, when a federal court invalidated one of the patents involved.

A U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware magistrate judge said a patent covering the generation of metadata covered only “an advance in the realm of abstract ideas.”
