Splunk Accused of Infringing Patent Covering Firewall System (1)

The software company Splunk Inc. was accused of infringing an intrusion detection systems patent with its firewall products, according to a complaint filed in a Texas federal court Wednesday.

Longhorn HD LLC, a privately owned intellectual property management company, alleges that several of Splunk’s products infringe two of Longhorn’s patents, US Patent Nos. 7,260,846 and 7,017,186, according to a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Both patents cover technology that’s used in computer intrusion detection systems, including firewalls, IT service intelligence systems, and emergency response systems.
