Sony Wipes Out Image-Display Patent After Federal Circuit Remand

A US Patent and Trademark Office administrative tribunal invalidated a patent Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation 4 video game console was accused of infringing after the Federal Circuit revived the electronics giant’s challenge.

Intellectual Pixels Ltd.'s US Patent No. 10,681,109, covering an image-display system that uses a visual server to generate and transmit images, is obvious in light of two prior patents and two trade publications, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruled in a decision issued Wednesday.
