Sony Music Entertainment is alleging that a U.K.-based fitness brand has infringed on “hundreds” of its popular songs in social media videos, according to a complaint in a California federal court.
Sony Music said Gymshark Limited infringed on its sound recordings “on a massive scale” to promote its fitness apparel brand. Sony alleges that Gymshark’s promotional videos on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram feature unlicensed versions of Sony Music’s sound recordings by artists including Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake, in its complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
