Sonos Gets SoundExchange Royalty Suit Pause for Sirius XM Appeal

Smart-speaker maker Sonos Inc. convinced a federal judge to stay SoundExchange Inc.'s lawsuit seeking unpaid royalties as SoundExchange appeals its loss in a similar case against Sirius XM.

If affirmed, the SiriusXM decision would prevent SoundExchange from bringing allegations Sonos failed to pay more than $3 million in royalties for music streamed on Sonos Radio, Judge Hernán D. Vera said, and opted to stay the suit instead of granting Sonos’ motion to dismiss in a Wednesday order.
