Sonos Gets OK to Amend Patent Allegations After Google’s Witness

Sonos Inc. can expand its infringement arguments as to one of five audio-technology patents in its California dispute with Alphabet Inc.’s Google, a federal judge ruled, granting Sonos’ bid to add new information supporting its “stream transfer” theory gleaned while deposing a Google witness.

Sonos asked in late November for permission to amend its infringement contentions as to the patent, saying the witness’ testimony had “confirmed” aspects of its theory.

Judge William Alsup found that Sonos “has adequately shown diligence” and “that this sequence of events satisfies the diligence requirement,” according to his order granting Sonos’ motion issued Thursday in ...
