SolarEdge Says Ampt’s Patent Claims Amount to Venue Shopping (2)

SolarEdge Technologies Inc. fired back Sunday after Ampt LLC filed two patent-infringement complaints last week seeking damages and a ban on US imports of its solar-power optimizers and inverters, accusing it of “shopping around its claims” after recent losses at the United States Patent and Trademark Office over competing patent families.

Ampt, founded in 2007 and based in Fort Collins, Colo., provides photovoltaic-power technology used mostly by commercial customers. The company’s system-level optimization “lowers the cost and increases the energy production of large-scale” solar systems, according to a complaint filed July 28 at the US International Trade Commission.
