The companies behind the video-based social media app Likee were accused in Los Angeles federal court on Wednesday of willfully infringing the copyright of thousands of songs used to make videos on the app.
BMG Rights Management, an international record label and music publisher, alleged that Likee, which has a similar format to short-form video sharing app TikTok, hasn’t obtained the proper licenses and authorization for most of the music found on the app.
