SoCal Edison, DOJ in Pact to End Suit Over State’s Biggest Fire

Southern California Edison Co. and the federal government tentatively settled a lawsuit alleging the utility’s negligence led to the largest wildfire in California’s history, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

No dollar amount was noted in the filing announcing the accord that would end Department of Justice’s claims SoCal Edison’s failure to maintain power lines caused the Thomas Fire. The blaze ignited on Dec. 4, 2017, and later led to deadly mudslides in the burned areas.
