Southern Methodist University allegedly incorporated a hip-hop clothing brand’s distinctive “triple D” logo into certain designs on the college’s football helmets, apparel and fan merchandise without permission, according to a lawsuit in Dallas federal court.
Triple D Gear LLC accused Dallas-based SMU of ripping off its design, which features three capital “D"s nested inside each other, when it updated the school’s logo several years ago, according to a complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
