SmartWatch Sues Verizon in Campaign Over Wearable Tech Patent

Cellco Partnership, which does business as Verizon Wireless, was hit with patent infringement allegations in SmartWatch MobileConcepts LLC’s litigation campaign in Texas targeting smartwatch manufacturers and distributors.

Verizon allegedly infringed U.S. Patent No. 10,362,480 with products that allow wearable device users to access secure electronic systems, according to the complaint filed Friday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

SmartWatch didn’t specify the infringing products in the complaint, but in an exhibit the company said the Wear24 smartwatch can connect to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular service, and Google Maps services similar to the protected technology.
