Skechers Says Marc Fisher, Rockport Shoes Infringe Slip-In Tech

Rockport-branded shoes designed and sold by Marc Fisher Holdings LLC infringe Skechers USA Inc’s patent for “Slip-in” technology, which makes it easier to don or remove footwear without crushing the heel, according to a federal lawsuit.

Skechers, the world’s third-largest footwear company, has “sold millions of pairs of shoes in styles embodying the patented technology,” according to a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. It accused Marc Fisher, ABG Rockport LLC, and Authentic Brands Group LLC of copying its innovations “without even contacting Skechers to request a license.”
