Scholastic Awarded Nearly $20 Million for Legal Fee Coverage

Scholastic Inc.'s secondary insurer is required to pay nearly $20 million in money orders to cover the publisher’s remaining legal fees from its trademark dispute with Vanderbilt University.

St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. must reimburse Scholastic for all of its outstanding defense and settlement costs from Vanderbilt University v. Scholastic, Inc., in addition to pre- and post-judgment interest, according to an order filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Judge Jesse M. Furman’s order also dismissed all remaining claims in the case with prejudice.
