Cameron International Corp., a unit of Schlumberger NV, won $8.9 million in a Texas jury trial over patented oilfield technology used in hydraulic fracturing equipment, according to the jury’s verdict sheet.
Nitro Fluids LLC infringed two patents covering aspects of certain fracking systems used to boost oil and gas production by pumping high-pressured fluids into underground cracks, a jury in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas determined Wednesday, according to court records. Jurors also determined Nitro Fluids’ infringement was intentional, which subjects the damages award to potential tripling in a subsequent proceeding.
