Savvysoft’s TurboExcel Copyright Claims Proceed Against User W&S

Western & Southern Financial Group Inc. will have to face copyright infringement claims over its use of TurboExcel software after a federal judge denied its bid to dismiss the case.

Judge Jeffery P. Hopkins said the Ohio-based financial services group’s arguments failed to prove its contention that all the claims brought by software maker Options Unlimited Research Corp., which does business as Savvysoft, were time-barred, insufficiently pleaded, or both, according to the Monday opinion filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
