SanDisk Targets Viasat’s In-Flight TV Streaming in Patent Lawsuit

In-flight live-TV technology offered by Viasat Inc. and developer Gigcasters LLC infringe four patents, SanDisk Technologies Inc. said in a federal lawsuit.

Viasat’s IPTV product infringes US Patent Nos. 11,757,854, 12,273,330, 9,424,400, and 10,447,667, according to SanDisk’s complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas.

The patents protect methods for digital content delivery and rights management for streaming, according to the complaint.

SanDisk said the IPTV product delivers live TV via satellite to aircraft so that passengers can watch entertainment on seat-back screens or personal devices.
