Sanctioned Patent Lawyer Grilled Over Fees Owed to Google (1)

A trio of Federal Circuit judges Wednesday grilled a prolific plaintiff-side patent lawyer seeking to wipe out more than $250,000 in sanctions awarded to Google LLC in part due to his frivolous conduct.

The panel appeared especially skeptical of Bill Ramey’s defense of a Rule 59(e) motion filed in EscapeX IP LLC’s case seeking to alter the first of two attorneys’ fees order, taking issue with supporting declarations he framed as presenting new evidence.
