The Texas owner of an IP Edge-affiliated patent-holding firm was ordered to appear in a Delaware federal court next month to address allegations of “potential fraud on the court” and “misconduct” by its counsel, and to pay a $53,000 contempt sanction.
Chief Judge Colm F. Connolly issued the order Aug. 23 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, less than six weeks after the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld his sanctions against Backertop Licensing LLC owner Lori LaPray amid Connolly’s sweeping investigation of patent-monetization firm IP Edge LLC.
