Sanctioned Law Firm Asks to Pause Sanction Payment to Volkswagen

A non-practicing entity asked a Texas federal judge to pause enforcing its counsel Ramey LLP to pay more than $200,000 in attorneys’ fees while it appeals the sanction, awarded in a patent dispute against Volkswagen Group of America Inc.

VDPP LLC asked the court to set a bond of $249,602 to secure the appeal, based on Ramey LLP namesake Bill Ramey’s present financial ability, according to an emergency motion to set bond and stay enforcement of judgment filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
