Samsung’s Bid to Ax Mojo Patents Sinks After $192 Million Loss

Samsung Electronics Co. failed to convince a Texas federal judge five patents were invalid after a jury determined the electronics giant owed just over $192 million for infringing wireless charging methods.

There isn’t a basis to overturn the jury’s September 2024 finding that Samsung didn’t prove Mojo Mobility Inc.’s patents were invalid, according to a memorandum opinion and order filed March 13 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

The trial concerned Mojo’s allegations that Galaxy smartphones infringed patents covering methods for charging mobile devices.
