Samsung Wants $287 Million Contract Breach Suit in Federal Court

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. wants a breach of contract lawsuit moved from state court, days after a Texas jury determined the electronics giant must pay Koninklijke Kpn $287 million for breaking a contract concerning a patent licensing deal.

Samsung sought to move the dispute to the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas’s jurisdiction one business day after the Feb. 23 verdict in the Harrison County 71st District Court, according to a notice of related cases filed Tuesday.
