Samsung Sued for Infringing Smart Home, Phone Technology Patents

Samsung Electronics Co. and Samsung Electronics America Inc. were hit with infringement allegations in federal district court over several smart home and smartphone devices as part of Maxell Ltd.’s quest to protect seven patents.

Samsung uses systems for video, photo, reproduction, and unlocking functions in multiple products, including the SmartThings Station, its Gallery app, smartphones, and kitchen appliances, according to a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas Thursday.
