Samsung, Sensor Manufacturer Reach Agreement to End Patent Suit

Samsung Electronics Co. and a maker of image sensors in cameras agreed to settle a lawsuit over the Korean electronics giant’s smartphones.

Judge Rodney Gilstrap on Monday granted Samsung and SiOnyx LLC’s joint motion requesting a 30-day stay in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas to finalize the settlement.

The companies’ May 1 motion stated SiOnyx reached an agreement with a third party resolving its patent-infringement allegations against Samsung. The fulfillment of obligations under that agreement will also resolve Samsung’s counterclaims against SiOnyx, according to the joint motion.
