Samsung Owes $12.5 Million Over Wireless Patent, Jury Finds (1)

Samsung Electronics Co. owes Empire Technology Development LLC $12.5 million for infringing a wireless communications patent with its Galaxy smartphones, a federal jury found.

Samsung infringed one claim of US Patent Nos. 8,798,120, according to a verdict filed Friday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The jury said Empire Technology hadn’t proved infringement of US Patent No. 8,565,331 and one of the ‘120 patent’s asserted claims.
